1,000-bed Paediatrics Hospital set to open in HCM City
VOV.VN -It has been unveiled that construction of the 1,000-bed Ho Chi Minh City Paediatrics Hospital, the city’s third children’s hospital, is on track with the grand opening set to be held later this year.
The hospital will help reduce the patient overload of HCM City's two existing paediatrics hospitals, which have also been faced with a shortage of trained medical staff. |
Currently, two or three children often have to share a bed. Now the city will have one more paediatrics hospital offering high-quality health examinations and treatment, a giant step forward for healthcare. |
The new 93,000 sq. m. hospital is located in the outlying district of Binh Chanh and is being equipped with state-of-the-art medical instruments and equipment on par with any hospital in the ASEAN region. |
It is expected that the new modern hospital will help reduce the number of children patients that are forced to travel abroad for advanced medical treatment currently unavailable in Vietnam. |
The hospital will also serve as a main site in the southern region to train doctors in addition to nurses and other medical staff. |
Medical training is very important because provincial paediatrics hospitals lack sufficient highly qualified doctors and other medical staff and this training will help fill that void. |
Currently many residents of other provinces bring their children to HCM City hospitals due to lack of qualified physicians in their home province. The training will alleviate the problem. |
The hospital has an all-inclusive estimated total cost of US$214.2 million (VND4.5 trillion). |
Currently, HCM City has more than 100 hospitals with more than 32,000 beds, serving an average of more than 31 million patients annually. |
Of that number, about 1.4 million are in-patients, according to the Health Department. More than 40% are from municipalities other than HCM City. |
