1,000 banh chung for the less fortunate

VOV.VN -Ngoc Han and hundreds of students from the Nguyen Tri Phuong secondary school on January 22 made a 1,000 chung cakes (square glutinous traditional rice cakes) to give to less fortunate children in the mountainous province of Ha Giang.

This was a meaningful activity that aimed to bring happiness to needy children on the occasion of the upcoming Tet (Lunar New Year Festival).
Nguyen An Khanh taught students how to wrap the cakes.

Ngoc Han also joined in the activities.

The students were very excited about the event.

According to the yin-yang philosophy, Chung cakes symbolize the round square with the green of life and prosperity, which is yin.

While the round white rice cake symbolizes the sky and the yang element. In Vietnamese legend, ‘vuong tron’ (square and round) is a good thing.

Some students were interested in writing 'cau doi' (parallel sentences).

Teachers and students from the Nguyen Tri Phuong secondary school also donated money to buy textbooks, school supplies, and clothes for the needy children.
