Vietnam’s deep concern over DPRK hydrogen bomb test

(VOV) -Vietnam calls for parties concerned to take practical actions to promote peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Hai Binh made the statement on January 7 in response to a reporter’s question about Vietnam’s reaction to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) hydrogen bomb test on January 6.

"Vietnam's unswerving stance is to support denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula, a comprehensive nuclear test ban, non-proliferation and disarmament towards eliminating this nuclear weapon,” said Binh.

Vietnam is deeply concerned over the DPRK’s thermonuclear bomb test conducted on January 6 that is in violation of relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council thus increasing tension and threatening peace and stability in the region, he added.

In regard to an attack on the Saudi Embassy in Tehran on January 3, the Vietnamese official said, “We reiterated the need to ensure safety of officials at diplomatic corps, consulates and headquarters of those agencies in line with the Convention on Diplomatic Relations and the Convention on Consular Relations.

The Foreign Ministry has asked representative agencies in related countries to closely follow the situations and work closely with local security agencies to ensure security and safety for their staff, offices and Vietnamese people living in those countries”.
