Vietnam’s 79th National Day marked in China

The Vietnamese Embassy in China on August 28 held a ceremony to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the National Day (September 2, 1945-2024).

The event saw the participation of Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong, representatives from Chinese ministries, departments and agencies, experts, scholars, new agencies, ambassadors of countries to China, representatives of diplomatic corps in Beijing, businesses and the Vietnamese community in the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Sao Mai reviewed the historical milestones in the 79-year development journey of Vietnam.

Particularly, despite many difficulties in the international and regional situation this year, Vietnam still maintains a positive socio-economic development trend, with an expected annual GDP growth of 6-6.5%.

The country’s foreign affairs and international integration have been proactively and effectively implemented, achieving historic results.

Relations between Vietnam and its partners, especially with neighbouring and major countries, and traditional friends, have been developing fruitfully.

Regarding Vietnam-China relations, the ambassador affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to consolidating and developing a stable and healthy relationship with China.

He said that Vietnam-China relations have seen many profound, substantive and comprehensive developments in all areas, with regular high-level contacts. During Party General Secretary and President To Lam's recent State visit to China in his new position, the two sides have reached important common perceptions on further strengthening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and promoting the building of the China–Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.

He added that the two countries’ cooperation in economy-trade, investment, culture, education and tourism continues to develop and achieve many positive results. The two sides have closely coordinated to maintain peace, stability, cooperation, and development on the land border. At the same time, they have also maintained channels of dialogue and negotiation, and make efforts to control disagreements at sea on the basis of international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

At the event, international friends expressed their impressions and congratulated Vietnam on its socio-economic development achievements./
