Vietnamese President departs Hanoi for official visit to Laos
VOV.VN - President Vo Van Thuong left Hanoi on April 10 morning for an official visit to Laos at the invitation of General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith.
He is being accompanied by Chairman of the Presidential Office Le Khanh Hai, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh, Chairman of the Vietnam -Laos Friendship Association Tran Van Tuy, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung, among others.
The visit is designed to affirm the Vietnamese State’s unwavering policy of attaching importance to and giving the highest priority to the great friendship, special solidarity, and all-around cooperation between the two nations.
It also aims to consolidate the mutual trust and close-knit ties between leaders of the two countries and step up cooperation between the two States and the two peoples.
The trip takes place when the two Parties and countries are strongly carrying out the resolutions of their respective Parties’ congresses and socio-economic development plans and obtaining numerous outstanding achievements.
Bilateral relations are also growing and flourishing, with agreements between the countries’ leaders and cooperation agreement between the two Governments being implemented actively and producing significant outcomes across a variety of fields.
Vietnam and Laos have enjoyed special relations which are developing very well in multiple fields. Both nations have regularly conducted visits and meetings of senior leaders at all levels. Last year, the two countries successfully organized the 44th meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee, and the launching ceremony of the "Vietnam-Laos Friendship Year 2022", and the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Park project in the capital city of Vientiane.
The two sides successfully coordinated to organize the Vietnam - Laos and Laos - Vietnam Year of Friendship and Solidarity 2022 with the highlight being a solemn celebration to mark the 60th anniversary of both nations’ diplomatic ties and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.
