Vietnamese NA holds talks with Cambodian Senate

VOV.VN - Bui Van Cuong, secretary general of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) and head of its Office, held talks with Oum Sarith, secretary general of the Senate of Cambodia, on April 4 in Hanoi.

Cuong said that the Cambodian delegation’s visit highlights the partnership between the two advisory bodies of the Vietnamese NA and the Cambodian Senate, thereby demonstrating the good ties of neighbourliness, the traditional friendship, and the comprehensive co-operation that exists between the two countries.

This is also the first activity aimed at realizing the two agencies’ co-operation agreement and following the directions of Vietnamese NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Cambodian Senate President Say Chhum during their talks held on November 19, 2022 in Phnom Penh on strengthening ties, as well as information and experience sharing, between agencies serving the NA and the Senate.

The Vietnamese NA Office remains ready to continue providing personnel training following the needs of the Cambodian Parliament in accordance with actual conditions, he added.

Sarith expressed hope that the two sides will continue co-operating and supporting each other at multilateral inter-parliamentary forums, whilst ramping up delegation exchanges and experience sharing.

The two officials discussed and agreed on focuses of co-operation in the time ahead to substantively carry out their offices’ Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on co-operation.

They therefore pledged to continue close co-ordination to serve visits and meetings, as well as bilateral and multilateral activities of the two legislative bodies.

The two offices will also work closely with each other to provide advice for the legislatures in supervising and urging the two countries’ ministries, sectors, localities, and businesses to effectively implement signed co-operation agreements and mechanisms.
