Vietnamese legislature presents gifts to Cuban counterpart

VOV.VN - Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba, presided over a ceremony on August 11 held in the Cuban capital of Havana for a Vietnamese delegation to present gifts, including 750 tablets and two servers, to their Cuban counterparts.

In his speech at the handover ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Thanh Tung said the equipment is designed to assist the Cuban legislature in its efforts to improve its overall operational efficiency.

He also expressed solidarity with the Cuban people following a fire which hit a fuel depot in Matanzas city and offered condolences to the families of the victims of the accident.

Commending the Vietnamese side for its warm affection and precious help, Hernández asked Ambassador Tung to convey a letter of thanks to the chairman of the Vietnamese NA Vuong Dinh Hue.

Homero Acosta Álvarez, secretary of the National Assembly of the People’s Power and the Council of State of Cuba, emphasised that this is not the first time the Vietnamese NA has presented equipment to the Caribbean nation. Previously, the Vietnamese side helped the Cuban legislature with security camera systems and other information equipment.

He said that Vietnam was one of the first countries to send a message of solidarity to Cuba following the blaze at a fuel depot in Matanzas city, adding that it demonstrates the fraternity that exists between the two nations.
