Vietnamese leaders offer condolences over Washington DC plane crash
VOV.VN - Upon learning of the plane crash in Washington, D.C. on January 29, which resulted in a high number of casualties, State President Luong Cuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh extended messages of condolence to US President Donald Trump on January 31.
On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son also sent his condolences to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
The mid-air collision between two aircraft claimed 67 lives, making it the deadliest aviation disaster in the US in nearly a quarter of a century.
Authorities have located both the cockpit voice recorder and the flight data recorder from the American Airlines aircraft.
The collision occurred while the plane was attempting to land at Ronald Reagan Airport near Washington, D.C. on January 29, with all passengers and crew aboard both aircraft tragically losing their lives. The investigation into the crash is expected to take several months.
At least 28 bodies have been recovered from the Potomac River. The American Airlines aircraft was carrying 60 passengers and 4 crew members, while the military helicopter had 3 service members onboard.
