Vietnamese Government chief meets Russian Deputy PM

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on October 23 received Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak who was joined by Minister of Economic Development Maksim Reshetnhikov and Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov.

The meeting is within the framework of a working trip to attend the expanded BRICS Summit following a solemn welcome ceremony for the Vietnamese Government leader held at Kazan International Airport the same day.

PM Chinh expressed his delight at his first visit to Kazan city, while emphasizing that the political and diplomatic relations between the two countries have been increasingly developing, especially after the State visit to Vietnam by President Vladimir Putin in June 2024, along with many exchanges and contacts between the two countries' senior leaders. This has helped to consolidate the political foundation of trust for both nations to further develop cooperation across multiple fields.

Expressing the respect and support of Party, State and Government leaders of Vietnam for Russia's role as BRICS Chair, Chinh emphasized that Vietnam always regards Russia as one of the top priority partners in its foreign policy. He also noted with satisfaction the positive results in the multifaceted cooperation achieved between the two countries since President Putin's visit. He said hopes to work with the Russian Government to seek solutions to step up cooperation in the time ahead, especially in areas where both sides have strengths and potential on the basis of mutual benefit.

Welcoming and conveying the regards from Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his delegation, Russian Deputy PM Alexander Novak affirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Government leaders highly value the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam, considering Vietnam a leading important partner in the Asia-Pacific region. He thanked PM Chinh for attending the expanded BRICS summit in Kazan and for his attention to and drastic direction for the Vietnam-Russia relationship.

The two sides acknowledged the positive results achieved in bilateral cooperation in recent times, including in the energy, oil and gas sector, which have made important contributions to the socio-economic development of each country.

In the context of many countries shifting to using green energy, minimizing the harmful effects of global climate change, the Vietnamese cabinet leader suggested that the Russian Government continue to pay attention to and promote new cooperation opportunities with Vietnam, while continuing to effectively realize cooperation documents signed between the two countries in this important field.

For his part, PM Chinh affirmed that the Vietnamese Government always welcomes and offers favorable conditions for Russian enterprises, including oil and gas firms which are highly interested in expanding their operations in Vietnam.

On this occasion, Chinh respectfully invited Deputy PM Alexander Novak, two Russian ministers and conveyed an invitation to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to visit Vietnam in the near future.
