Vietnamese Defence Minister begins working visit to Russia

During the course of the five-day visit, the Vietnamese defence chief is scheduled to hold talks with his counterpart Russian Defence Minister Andrey Belousov.

On August 11, Minister Giang and the high-ranking delegation paid a floral tribute to President Ho Chi Minh’s Monument in Moscow and visited a building next to the Kremlin Palace where the late Vietnamese leader worked from 1923 to 1924.

The same day witnessed the delegation visit the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia where they were briefed by Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi on the current socio-economic situation of the host country, the life of the Vietnamese community, and the Embassy's work over recent times.

In his address, the Vietnamese Minister hailed the Embassy's contributions to strengthening the joint relationship, including bilateral defence co-operation.

With regard to the working visit, Minister Giang stated that on the basis of the sound traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership that exists between the two nations, defence ties continues to be effectively carried out  in the spirit of "trust, practicality, efficiency, and comprehensiveness". This is taking place in various forms such as exchange of delegations, especially high-level ones; training; military technology; collaboration within the framework of the Vietnam - Russia Tropical Centre; and political-military co-operation and co-ordination in international multilateral activities, at multilateral mechanisms and forums on defence.

He said he hopes to continue receiving the support of the Embassy, as well as the Ambassador, to further boost defence ties as a greater contribution to the overall traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.
