Vietnamese Consulate General in Preah Sihanouk celebrates National Day
The Vietnamese Consulate General in Preah Sihanouk hosted a ceremony on August 28 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2, 1945 – 2025).

Addressing the gathering, Vietnamese Consul General Lai Xuan Chien emphasised that over the past 80 years, under the sound leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), the Vietnamese people have overcome countless hardships, secured great victories, and made remarkable strides, transforming a once underdeveloped nation into a fast-developing country today.
These achievements form a solid foundation and powerful driving force for Vietnam to move forward into a new era of prosperity and modernity, he said.
The diplomat underlined that Vietnam and Cambodia are long-standing neighbours whose destinies are inseparable. Today’s generations are carrying forward the traditional friendship and mutual support nurtured by their predecessors, while working together in increasingly close and effective cooperation for prosperous national development and the benefit of both countries' people.
The Consul General also highlighted that cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia continues to thrive across politics, defence and security, and socio-economic development. He affirmed that despite complex and unpredictable global and regional developments, the bilateral ties have consistently been preserved, strengthened and expanded in line with the principle of “good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability.” Such relations serve the interests of both nations' people while contributing to ASEAN and to peace, stability and development in the wider region and the world, he added.
Preah Sihanouk Governor Mang Sineth extended warm congratulations on the 80th National Day of Vietnam, calling it a historic milestone symbolising the courageous struggle for a just cause. He expressed deep admiration for the bravery and perseverance of the Vietnamese people and army in their struggle for national liberation, and praised the country’s notable socio-economic progress under the leadership of the CPV and the Government, with strong contributions from legislative and executive bodies and the people. He affirmed that these achievements had elevated Vietnam’s role and position both regionally and internationally, while contributing to peace, stability and development.
The official also stressed that the close bonds between Cambodia and Vietnam, built on mutual respect, support and solidarity, had brought tangible benefits to both nations. He said there relations have helped to maintain peace, stability and prosperity in the region, consistent with the spirit of good neighbourliness, long-term sustainability and serving the shared interests of both countries – particularly Preah Sihanouk province and its Vietnamese partners in An Giang, Ca Mau and Hai Phong.
