Vietnamese and Lao NAs jointly compile first book marking 50 years of ties
VOV.VN - The first jointly compiled book by the Vietnamese and Lao National Assembliesby Vietnamese and Laos parliaments will document five decades of close relations, highlighting their comprehensive cooperation and enduring friendship.

Vice Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Khac Dinh on August 15 received a delegation from the Steering Committee for compiling the book “50 Years of Relations between the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the National Assembly of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic- Comprehensive Cooperation and Development”, led by Sanya Praseuth, Chairman of the Lao National Assembly’s Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Vice Chairman Dinh expressed his pleasure at noting that over time, the relations between the two Parties, the two NAs, and the peoples of Vietnam and Laos have achieved increasingly positive results. He emphasized that the delegation’s visit takes place at a special occasion, with Vietnam organizing events marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, while demonstrating responsibility and collaboration with the Vietnamese National Assembly to complete the compilation of this politically and diplomatically significant book, further deepening the special, traditional friendship between the two countries.
He appreciated the close, methodical, and scientific coordination between the two sides, which mobilized the participation of numerous delegates, experts, and experienced researchers. The Steering Committee also held multiple seminars and scientific workshops to support the book’s compilation, while editorial work was conducted thoroughly to ensure political and diplomatic accuracy.
Highlighting that this is the first book compiled in cooperation between the two legislative bodies, Vice Chairman Dinh hoped that the delegation would coordinate with the working group of the Vietnamese National Assembly to conduct a final review to ensure the book’s highest quality, submit it to the leadership of both legislatures for approval, and then proceed with printing in a timely manner, expected in the third quarter of 2025.
He affirmed that the book will be a valuable document, systematizing and demonstrating the positive relations between the two NAs, while educating the younger generations of both Vietnam and Laos about this relationship.
For his part, Sanya Praseuth stressed that the Lao National Assembly highly values the compilation and publication of the book as an important document to widely promote awareness among the peoples of both countries about the enduring and sustainable Vietnam-Laos relationship.
He added that over the past period, the working groups of Vietnam and Laos have closely coordinated, completing drafts; organizing translation, editing, and supplementing or adjusting certain information to ensure the book’s content is complete and comprehensive. From the first draft to the latest, the book has been developed with a high level of consensus between the two sides.
“The compilation of this book is the result of the valuable relationship and cooperation between the Lao and Vietnamese NAs,” Sanya Praseuth shared.
He also expressed the hope that both sides will continue to coordinate closely, actively, and promptly to finalize the remaining steps of compilation and publication, thus ensuring both schedule and quality.
