Vietnamese Ambassador presents credentials to Azerbaijani President

VOV.VN - Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia and Azerbaijan Dang Minh Khoi presented his credentials on February 7 to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who affirmed that joint ties are growing well in both bilateral and multilateral aspects.

President Aliyev said that both sides hold great potential for further co-operation in trade, education, and tourism.

Their collaboration at the UN when Vietnam assumed the role of a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in the 2020 to 2021 term and Azerbaijan took on the position as the Chair of the Non-Aligned Movement in the 2019 to 2022 tenure has contributed to global stability, he stated.

The leader also expressed his wish that Ambassador Khoi will fulfil his tasks to contribute to boosting the two countries’ friendship and all-around cooperation moving forward.

The Vietnamese diplomat affirmed that the country always remembers the Azerbaijani people’s support, including late President Heydar Aliyev’s important contributions to the development of the bilateral relations.

Hailing the positive developments in relations over recent times, he highlighted that both nations celebrated the 30th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2022 with various activities. Indeed, two-way trade hit US$702.5 million last year, an 8.3-fold increase compared to that of 2021.

The Ambassador therefore proposed a range of measures aimed at further expanding bilateral ties, especially in economics, trade, transport and logistics, as well as oil and gas exploration and exploitation.

The Vietnamese Ambassador then held working sessions with various other officials of the host country, discussing the various orientations and measures to bolster co-operation in multiple fields, with a specific focus on economics, trade, and investment, particularly through the organisation of the third meeting of the intergovernmental committee.
