Vietnam wishes for stronger strategic partnership with Germany

VOV.VN - Vietnam always desires to develop strategic partnership with Germany, said Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh at a reception in Hanoi on August 16 for President of the Organization for Supporting World University of Germany and member of the Council of Vietnamese – German University (VGU) Kambiz Ghawami. 

During the reception, Thinh said both nations will celebrate the 45th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties next year while hoping that Ghawami and authorities of Hessen state will support celebration initiatives and the Vietnamese and German governments, and authorities of Hessen state will sign an agreement on the VGU at the earliest time. 

She said she hopes that Germany would continue backing the European Union’s early ratification of the EU – Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) in order to further enhance trade and investment. 

Thinh also highlighted a number of important works in Vietnam that bear the hallmarks of Germany such as the Vietnamese National Assembly House, the National Convention Centre and Hanoi Museum.

She voiced her hope that as a close friend of Vietnam, Ghawami will make greater contributions to strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially in education – training. 

Ghawami, in reply, said Hessen state has drawn up plans to promote ties with Vietnam towards the 45th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties next year. 

He showed his wish that the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training will put forward a specific programme for the celebration of bilateral diplomatic relations, and sign an education – training cooperation agreement soon. 

The German guest also said he expects that the Vietnamese side will facilitate the VGU project.
