At the meeting, Kurtulmus spoke highly of the successful working visit by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the Vietnamese high-level delegation during their attendance at the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-152) held in Istanbul in April.

The Turkish parliamentary leader expressed his impression of the warm sentiments and highly specific exchanges shared by Tran Thanh Man on measures to further enhance friendship and cooperation between the two countries in general and the two legislatures in particular.

Kurtulmus affirmed that Turkey viewed Vietnam as an important partner in Southeast Asia, emphasizing that similarities in historical depth, cultural identity, foreign policy and family values served as catalysts for elevating bilateral ties to a new level.

He also underlined the need to maximize the role of the two countries’ parliamentary friendship groups in promoting people-to-people exchanges, cultural links and local cooperation, thereby helping strengthen mutual understanding and ties between the two countries and legislatures.

For her part, Ambassador Dang Thi Thu Ha congratulated Kurtulmus and the Turkish Parliament on the successful organization of IPU-152 and thanked the host country for the exceptionally warm reception and hospitality extended to Tran Thanh Man and his delegation.

The ambassador also conveyed greetings and an invitation from Tran Thanh Man for Kurtulmus to visit Vietnam at an early date.

Welcoming the positive progress in bilateral friendship and all-around cooperation in recent years, Ha affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and aspires to further expand comprehensive cooperation and friendship with Turkey.

She also proposed several measures to beef up cooperation in political and diplomatic ties, economics-trade, security and defence, and especially closer coordination between the two legislative bodies.

Concluding the meeting, Kurtulmus wished Ambassador Dang Thi Thu Ha a successful tenure, thus contributing to Vietnam-Turkey relations and said he would arrange an early visit to Vietnam.
