Vietnam treasures ties with Poland

The National Assembly, Government and people of Vietnam attach importance to strengthening the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with Poland, considering it one of priorities in the country’s external policy on Central-Eastern Europe.

NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung made the remarks at a meeting with Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski in capital Warsaw on March 15.

He thanked the Polish Government and people for their assistance to Vietnam during its national construction, defence and development.

He expressed his hope that the two countries will boost bilateral cooperation more effectively in the fields of politics, economics, security-defence, culture, and education and training.

The Vietnamese top legislator asked Poland to continue supporting Vietnam in fostering comprehensive relations with the European Union, especially in economics-trade, to accelerate the EU recognition of Vietnam as a market economy, and to back the country in free trade agreement negotiations with the EU.

Komorowski described Hung’s visit as helping further consolidate and usher in a new opportunity in the two countries’ relationship.

He highly valued the cooperation between the two legislative bodies and suggested the two sides strengthen visits between their high-level leaders as well as delegation exchanges to further bilateral ties.
The same day, Hung met Chairman of the Senate of Poland Bogdan Borusewicz.

At the meeting, he highly valued the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Poland over the past six decades.

The Vietnamese NA is willing to cooperate with the Polish side to bring bilateral relations to a new high level.

For his part, Borusewicz expressed his belief that the visit of the Vietnamese delegation will practically contribute to promoting the friendship and cooperation between the two legislative bodies, and create new cooperative opportunities in bilateral relations as well as the regional and international cooperation.

He spoke highly of Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements and said he hoped to increase cooperation with Vietnam in all fields.
