Vietnam treasures strategic partnership with Russia
VOV.VN -Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh affirmed Vietnam’s unwavering policy of prioritizing its comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia at a meeting on September 21 with Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matvienko.
Host and guest showed elation at the growing Vietnam-Russia cooperation and their regular high-level political dialogues.
The effective implementation of Vietnam-Eurasia Free Trade Agreement has brought about positive changes to trade exchange between the two countries which have also seen strengthened cooperation in defence-security, science-technology, education-training, culture, and tourism, as well as connections between localities.
They were unanimous in closer coordination to successfully organise the Vietnam-Russia and Russia-Vietnam Year in the two countries on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Vietnam-Russia friendship treaty signing (1994-2019) and the 70th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties (1950-2020).
The two sides also agreed to continue to work hand in hand and offer mutual support at multilateral forums, including the Eurasian Women’s Forum.
On behalf of the Russian State and parliament leaders, Matvienko extended deep condolences to the Party, State, and people of Vietnam over the passing of President Tran Dai Quang and praised his positive contributions to Vietnam’s national construction and development as well as the strengthening of the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia.
The Russian official also commended the active participation of Thinh and her Vietnamese delegation in activities of the second Eurasian Women’s Forum.
Praising the outcomes of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s recent visit to Russia, Matvienko held that her country greatly values the comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam and will try its best to develop bilateral collaboration in a more effective manner in line with the nations’ expectations.
In reply, Vice President Thinh thanked the Speaker for her fine sentiments towards the late President and highly appreciated Russia’s organisation of the second Eurasian Women’s Forum, and the role of Matvienko herself in launching the forum’s activities.
Thinh said she hopes that Matvienko, in her current capacity, will continue her greater efforts to help the forum further promote its role in bridging women of the two continents and boosting their partnership in multiple fields.
The meeting was part of the Vietnamese Vice President’s trip to attend the second Eurasian Women’s Forum held recently in Saint Petersburg.
