The hand-over took place during the fourth meeting of the AMC held in the Hanoi-Moscow Complex (Incentra) in the Russian capital city the same day.

Ambassadors from other ASEAN member countries, including the Philippines, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos and Indonesia, expressed their support for Vietnam’s AMC Chairmanship, which, they said, is expected to help promote solidarity and cooperation between the grouping and Russia.

The meeting adopted the plan on the committee’s activities in 2020 proposed by Vietnam.

Accordingly, the committee is scheduled to host such activities as an ASEAN flag hoisting ceremony, ASEAN Family Day, a workshop on ASEAN-Russia economic collaboration and other events featuring ASEAN cuisines and culture.

Founded in 1967, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) groups 10 member countries, namely Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
