Vietnam, Singapore share experience in COVID-19 combat
VOV.VN - Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu and Permanent Secretary of the Foreign Ministry of Singapore Chee Wee Kiong discuss experience in response to COVID-19 pandemic and economic recovery during their phone talks held on September 13.
Deputy FM Vu thanked Singapore for providing timely support to Vietnam, especially essential medical supplies, considering it vivid evidence of the strategic partnership between the two nations.
He hailed the island city state’s success in containing the pandemic, particularly administering more than 80% of its population to facilitate economic opening and development.
The Vietnamese diplomat said he hopes that Singapore would offer greater support or transfer vaccines to Vietnam as swiftly as possible.
Chee Wee Kiong, in turn, emphasized the importance of close ties between the two foreign ministries to carry forward the Singapore - Vietnam strategic partnership across a variety of fields, including pandemic response, travelling facilitation, opening of the economy and prevention of supply chain disruption.
The pair also discussed Singapore’s experience in policy planning to bring the pandemic under early control, towards economic recovery and bringing the country back to “new normal”.
Chee applauded Vietnam’s efforts and expressed his confidence that the country will curb the pandemic soon, thus facilitating the opening of the two economies and travelling for the two nations' citizens.
