Vietnam, RoK strengthen cooperation in leadership training
Politburo member, President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA), and Chairman of the Central Theory Council Nguyen Xuan Thang had a meeting with visiting President of the Republic of Korea's National Human Resources Development Institute (NHI) Kim Chae-Hwan in Hanoi on November 7.
Thang told his guest that a priority for Vietnam at the moment is the development of high-quality human resources, an area of mutual interest for both the HCMA and NHI. He also acknowledged the long-standing and effective collaboration between the two institutions, with many delegations of their senior officials exchanged.
Through support from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) within a capacity building project for Vietnam's strategic leadership training programme for 2013-2016, the NHI conducted six training courses and dispatched five teams of experts to Vietnam. Since 2023, the two establishments have launched a new phase of the project (2023-2025), with two training courses completed to date.
Expressing his wish to expand academic exchanges and knowledge-sharing initiatives with the HCMA, Kim proposed the sides sign memoranda of understanding on strengthening collaboration in leaders’ training, and increase exchanges of staff and policy consultancy. He hoped the HCMA president will continue supporting their ongoing cooperative training programmes.
On the same day, the two institutions co-hosted a scientific seminar on the development of public sector human resources as a driver for socio-economic progress.
