Vietnam, RoK look to stronger strategic partnership

VOV.VN -Over the past 25 years, Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) have seen vigorous growth, said Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Lee Hyuk in a recent interview granted to Radio Voice of Vietnam (VOV).

Vietnam and the Republic of Korea are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their diplomatic ties this year.

“The Republic of Korea has become Vietnam’s biggest foreign investor with a total capital of more than US$50 billion. Vietnam is the fourth biggest trade partner of RoK Two-way trade turnover reached over US$45.1 billion last year,” said Mr Lee.

Tourism has yielded positive results. Last year, Vietnam welcomed nearly 1.75 million visitors, making it the destination the Koreans have visited most in Southeast Asia. There is an increasing number of Vietnamese tourists and students currently visiting Korea.

Ambassador Lee talked about the future prospects in the bilateral relations. “Although trade and investment have obtained major results but are still below their full potential. We should continue to focus on this area of cooperation. Many Korean businesses are keen to invest or expand investment in Vietnam.”

Ambassador Lee said his nation will continue to strengthen win-win relations with Vietnam and intensify exchanges between young generations, to elevate the strategic partnership to a higher level.
