Vietnam represented at ASEAN Defence Senior Officials' Meeting Working Group
VOV.VN - Lieutenant General Vu Chien Thang, director general of the Foreign Relations Department under the Ministry of National Defence and head of ADSOM WG Vietnam, led the Vietnamese delegation at the ASEAN Defence Senior Officials' Meeting Working Group (ADSOM WG) which took place virtually from February 2 to February 3.
The meeting represents one of the first defence-military activities hosted by the Defence Ministry of Brunei in their role of ASEAN Chair 2021.
During the course of the meeting, delegates discussed the draft statement of both the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) and ADMM Plus, in addition to reviewing the implementation of initiatives within the ADMM, whilst looking at fresh initiatives moving forward.
They also reached a consensus on preparations for upcoming events relating to the ADSOM, ADSOM Plus, ADMM, and ADMM Plus.
The occqwion saw the delegation from the nation unveil a plan to organise a seminar on building reference rules in order to achieve its initiative of flying the flags of ASEAN countries during UN peacekeeping missions.
The initiative was initially raised by the country in its role as AEAN Chair 2020 and was adopted at ADMM-14 last December.
