Vietnam rejects information about tightening visas for foreigners
VOV.VN - The country has rejected claims that it is tightening visa controls and emphasized its commitment to facilitating the entry, exit, and residence of foreign nationals.
The statement was made by spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang during a routine press briefing on November 21 in Hanoi over inquiries about the nation’s recent visa policy changes and increasing scrutiny of foreign nationals entering the country and engaging in activities inconsistent with their visa purposes.
"Vietnam’s unwavering policy is to facilitate the entry, exit, and residence of foreign nationals in the country, contributing to its socio-economic development," Hang said.
On August 15, 2023, Vietnam enacted amendments and supplements to laws concerning the entry, exit, and residence for Vietnamese nationals, as well as laws on entry, exit, transit, and residence for foreigners in the country, the official went on.
The revised visa regulations include various provisions to further facilitate foreign nationals coming to Vietnam for purposes such as studying, working, investing, exploring markets, or tourism, in accordance with Vietnamese laws. Information that Vietnam is intensifying control and tightening its visa policy for foreigners is completely unfounded, the spokesperson emphasized.
