Vietnam places importance on strategic partnership with Russia

VOV.VN - President Tran Dai Quang affirmed Vietnam’s unwavering policy of treasuring the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia while meeting with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on June 29 in Moscow.

President Quang's visit to Russia was coincided with the 100th anniversary of the Russian October Revolution, demonstrating Vietnam’s unwavering policy of respecting and prioritizing its comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia. 

The Vietnamese State leader told his host that Vietnam considers Russia its important, reliable top partner  and praised the bilateral political cooperation, especially the close cooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Russia United Party of Prime Minister Medvedev.

The Vietnamese State leader expressed his delight at his first visit to Russia since he took office in 2016.

Both leaders shared high determination to elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries to a higher level and agreed upon ways to deepen bilateral ties in the time to come.

President Quang called for more efforts from both governments to effectively implement the Vietnam-Eurasia Economic Union free trade agreement as well as solutions for promoting trade and creating favourable conditions for import-export activities between the two countries.

He underlined the need to back cooperation projects in oil and gas, energy, automobile assemble and production, and cow milk breeding and milk processing, and thanked Russia for supporting the Vietnamese community in Russia.

He assured Vietnam's willingness to help the organisation of the Russian Culture Days in Vietnam in 2017.

Russian PM Dmitry Medvedev, in turn praised the growing bilateral ties across a variety of fields especially the economy and trade. He said he hopes the Vietnamese and Russian governments will continue focusing on boosting trade, investment. He urged the two sides to stay active in seeking more cooperation projects.

Both host and guest noted with satisfaction at the close coordination between Vietnam and Russia at multilateral forums, including the APEC. PM Medvedev vowed his nation is ready to work with Vietnam to successfully organise the APEC Year 2017.

Earlier the same day, President Tran Dai Quang and his Vietnamese delegation laid flowers at the Ho Chi Minh Statue in Moscow and planted a tree at the Ho Chi Minh Square as a symbol for the close ties between Vietnam and Russia. 

They also paid floral tribute to the revolutionary leader Vladimir I. Lenin at his mausoleum and visited his commemoration area by the Kremlin wall.
