Vietnam Peace Committee's activities under review
VOV.VN - A conference was held in Hanoi on December 22 reviewing the Vietnam Peace Committee's activities in 2017 and devise tasks for next year.
In his speech, National Assembly Vice Chairman and Vietnam Peace Committee (VPC) Chairman Uong Chu Luu praised the committee's great contributions to protecting national interests and promoting Vietnam’s images.
The committee successfully hosted the Congress of the World Peace Council (WPC) Executive Committee in Hanoi this year as a contribution to implementing Party and State policies of diversification and multilateralisation of relations and improving the VPC’s stature within the WPC framework.
Over the years, the committee have reinforced relations with neighbouring countries, worked closely with partners from Japan, the Republic of Korea, Bangladesh, India and Czech Republic in multilateral people-to-people activities, and successfully held the international seminar entitled “The role of peace in promoting and protecting human rights”.
The committee will continue boosting multilateral diplomatic activities and solidarity, friendship and mutual understanding between Vietnamese and world people, he said.
Regarding tasks for 2018, participants consented to promote relations with traditional partners and expand relations with those from Asia and Latin America, responsibly and effectively join activities of the WPC and multilateral people-to-people forums.
The VPC is set to successfully hold its Congress for the 2018-2023 tenure, raise public awareness, especially young generations of peace and related activities, as well as carrying out studies on peace and human rights issues.
