Vietnam-Palestine first ministerial-level exchange boosts economic, cultural ties
VOV.VN - Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung hosted a reception on November 26 in Hanoi for Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Palestine, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.
Welcoming Minister Shahin, Vice Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung emphasized that her visit is especially significant as it marks the first exchange of delegations at the foreign minister level between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations. The visit is expected to enhance mutual understanding and open avenues for substantive bilateral cooperation.
On this occasion, the Vice Prime Minister conveyed his thanks to the Government and people of Palestine for their messages of sympathy and support for Vietnam following recent storms and floods in the central region.
Expressing deep sympathy for the losses suffered by the Palestinian people, Deputy PM Ho Quoc Dung stressed that Vietnam closely monitors the situation and supports all efforts to end violence, protect civilians, and promote a sustainable peace solution.
Regarding Vietnam-Palestine relations, Dung noted that the two countries maintain traditional, friendly ties, with political and people-to-people exchanges continuing to be strengthened.
He proposed that both sides further deepen and enhance bilateral cooperation, focusing on high-level exchanges, expanding trade, and creating opportunities for businesses to connect, explore markets, and promote investment.
Vietnam is ready to support Palestine in exporting key products such as agricultural and aquatic goods, textiles, and footwear, sectors where Vietnam has strengths. In addition, both sides should intensify people-to-people exchanges through friendship organizations and community connections, Dung stressed.
Thanking Deputy PM Ho Quoc Dung for the meeting, Minister Varsen Aghabekian Shahin conveyed greetings from President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa to the leadership and people of Vietnam. She also expressed condolences for the recent losses caused by storms and floods.
The minister expressed her appreciation for the friendship between the two nations, particularly Vietnam’s support for Palestine at international forums, noting that such backing is highly significant for Palestine’s struggle for freedom.
Minister Shahin also thanked Vietnam for actively supporting the Palestinian Embassy in Hanoi, helping it operate effectively. She emphasized that Palestine wishes to continue promoting bilateral relations, with Vietnam providing effective assistance in areas where it has expertise.
Highlighting the role of people-to-people exchanges in enhancing mutual understanding, Minister Shahin shared her positive impressions from visiting a Vietnamese university offering Arabic language courses, where she met many Vietnamese students fluent in the language, demonstrating the younger generation’s interest in Palestinian culture.
