Vietnam opposes China’s dispatch of patrol boats to Phu Lam Island

VOV.VN - Vietnam has full legal basis and historical evidence to assert its sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes in accordance with international law.

Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Pham Thu Hang made the statement at the ministry’s regular press briefing on June 22  in response to a reporter's question regarding China's dispatch of patrol boat Hai Tuan (Haixun) 03 to Phu Lam (Woody) Island, which is expected to patrol surrounding waters until the end of July 2023.

The representative of the Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed "All activities of the parties in these two archipelagos without Vietnam's permission violate the nation's sovereignty over these two archipelagos and are not conducive to peace, stability, order, security, safety and freedom of navigation in the East Sea".

Vietnam has repeatedly protested China's illegal moves in the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagoes. The Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs also repeatedly emphasized that Vietnam's sovereignty over these two archipelagoes was established in line with international law, the official added.
