Vietnam keen to reinforce traditional friendship with Kyrgyzstan

VOV.VN - Vietnam always places importance on and desires to further strengthen traditional friendship with Kyrgyzstan, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed in phone talks with her Kyrgyz counterpart Meder Abakirov in Hanoi on the morning of August 2.

During the talks, Hang highlighted the positive developments in political and diplomatic ties in recent times, notably the official visit to Vietnam by Kyrgyz Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev in March 2025 and the meeting between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Kasymaliev on the sidelines of the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Tianjin, China, in June 2025.

For his part, Deputy FM Abakirov expressed his pleasure at the progress in bilateral relations and sincerely thanked the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry for its thorough preparation for Prime Minister Kasymaliev’s visit.

He agreed to maintain direct contacts between the two ministries at both the deputy ministerial level and relevant departments in order to coordinate closely in promoting exchanges and visits at all levels, especially at the high level, thereby strengthening political trust and creating a foundation to expand cooperation in areas of strength and potential such as trade, investment, and tourism. He also underlined the need for both sides to exchange information in a timely manner to deal with arising issues in bilateral and in protecting the rights and interests of their citizens and legal entities.

The two diplomats acknowledged the results of cooperation between the two foreign ministries in recent years and consented to continue working closely to effectively implement agreements reached by senior leaders. This includes expediting negotiations towards the signing of key legal frameworks for bilateral cooperation such as an economic cooperation agreement, an agreement on the encouragement and protection of investment, a double taxation avoidance agreement, and a visa exemption agreement, thereby deepening the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan.

On this occasion, Deputy FM Abakirov invited Hang to pay a visit to Kyrgyzstan and hold political consultations at a mutually convenient time to further advance relations between the two foreign ministries and the two nations.
