PM proposes enhancing transport links with Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed enhancing rail connectivity between Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan, as well as with other Central Asian countries, during his meeting with Kyrgyz Prime Minister Adylbek Kasimalyev on the sidelines of a World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Tianjin, China, on June 25.

Chinh praised the outcomes of Kasimalyev’s official visit to Vietnam in March 2025 and reaffirmed Vietnam’s consistent respect for its traditional friendship with Kyrgyzstan. He stated that Vietnamese ministries and agencies are actively implementing the agreements reached during that visit.
The Vietnamese leader suggested that both sides further promote economic and trade cooperation, including developing air, rail, and logistics services to better connect Vietnam with Kyrgyzstan and the broader Central Asian region.
He also thanked the Kyrgyz government for its support and urged it to continue creating favourable conditions for Vietnamese businesses operating in Kyrgyzstan, as well as for the Vietnamese community there to live, integrate well, and contribute positively to bilateral ties.
For his part, Kasimalyev lauded Chinh’s proposals, including the establishment of the Vietnam - Kyrgyzstan Intergovernmental Committee this year, and the signing of important agreements in the fields of trade, investment, and economy.
He encouraged Vietnamese businesses to explore opportunities in Kyrgyzstan and expressed support for boosting bilateral trade.
On this occasion, Kasimalyev invited Chinh and other Vietnamese leaders to visit Kyrgyzstan. He also welcomed visits from Vietnamese ministers to discuss and prepare for specific cooperation areas ahead of future high-level exchanges.
Chinh conveyed a letter from President Luong Cuong inviting the President of Kyrgyzstan to attend the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention on Countering the Use of Information and Communications Technologies for Criminal Purposes, to be held in Hanoi in October 2025.
Both sides agreed to strengthen comprehensive political dialogue at all levels as well as between their respective governments, ministries, and localities. They pledged to closely coordinate the effective implementation of all agreements reached by senior leaders and to continue fostering mutual understanding and multifaceted cooperation between their peoples.
The PMs of Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan are joining other world leaders at the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum in Tianjin, China.
