Vietnam keen to develop comprehensive relations with Nigeria

VOV.VN - Vietnam wishes to further develop its relationship with Nigeria across a variety of fields, President Vo Van Thuong said at a reception held in Hanoi on October 13 for Nigerian Ambassador to Vietnam Hassan Adamu Mamani, who came to say goodbye, marking the end of his working term in the country.

President Thuong assessed that Ambassador Mamani had a successful working term in Vietnam, making an important contribution to further boosting the relationship between both sides.

The Nigerian diplomat expressed his gratitude for the support and co-ordination of relevant Vietnamese agencies in the Embassy's activities over recent times.

He thanked the President for sharing important collaboration directions between the two countries. Accordingly, both nations share many things in common in economics and trade, whilst having favourable conditions to step up links in the field of agriculture.

The two countries also maintain ties in multilateral issues at the UN. The Nigerian Ambassador said he believes that the West African coutnry will continue to accompany the Vietnamese side to further promote the effectiveness of co-operation efforts.

President Thuong hailed the results of collaboration between Nigeria and Vietnam over the past time, especially co-operation activities in the field of socio-economic development.

The President was delighted and highly appreciated Nigeria's development achievements, especially in socio-economic aspects. He congratulated the Nigerian side on successfully holding elections and believed that with this result, the Nigerian people will increasingly achieve better and more comprehensive development achievements moving forward.

The President affirmed that the nation consistently implements an independent and self-reliant foreign policy for peace, friendship, co-operation and development, multilateralisation and diversification of foreign relations, being a friend, a trusted partner and an active, responsible member of the international community.

Vietnam therefore wishes to further develop its relationship with Nigeria in all fields, President Thuong said, suggesting that both sides increase contact and exchange delegations at all levels, further stepping up co-operation between ministries, sectors, and localities whilst maintaining exchanges and trying to co-operate on regional and global issues.

The Vietnamese State leader said he hopes for sound ties to continue between the two nations, no matter what position the Ambassador will hold in the future.
