Vietnam joins Komodo 2025 Multilateral Naval Exercise in Bali
VOV.VN - Ship 09 of Brigade 171, Naval Region 2 of the Vietnam People's Navy, part took in the Komodo 2025 Multilateral Naval Exercise (MNEK-5), officially launched on February 16 on Bali Island, Indonesia, under the theme "Maritime Partnership for Peace and Stability."

Admiral Muhammad Ali, Commander of the Indonesian Navy, presided over the opening ceremony, which was attended by local leaders, defense attachés, and heads of delegations from participating nations. Rear Admiral Pham Van Hung, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Vietnam People's Navy, was present at the opening ceremony and the international fleet review.
The exercise aims to strengthen friendships, build mutual trust, and enhance coordination among participating navies in disaster management and humanitarian assistance.
The Vietnam People's Navy delegation is participating in a wide range of activities, including the fleet review, a maritime security seminar, a command post exercise ashore, field training exercises at sea, as well as cultural, sports, and friendly exchange programs.

Vietnam's participation in Komodo 2025 reaffirms the commitment of the Ministry of National Defence and the Vietnam People's Navy to international and regional cooperation. It also helps boost ties between the Vietnamese and Indonesian navies, fosters broader engagement among ASEAN and global naval forces, and underscores Vietnam's role as a responsible member of the ASEAN Navy Chiefs' Meeting.
Following the opening ceremony, Indonesia’s Naval Air Force performed an aerial display and parachute jumps to mark the occasion. The international fleet review then took place at the Benoa port anchorage, featuring 40 warships from the navies and maritime law enforcement agencies of 17 countries, including Ship 09 from Brigade 171, Naval Region 2 of the Vietnam People's Navy.
