Vietnam, Japan boost parliamentary exchange and cooperation
VOV.VN -Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians Group, Truong Thi Mai on February 27 received Takebe Tsutomu, Special Advisor to the Japan - Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance (JVFPA) who is on a visit to Vietnam for the 8th Vietnam - Japan Festival 2023.
At the meeting, Mai expressed her pleasure at meeting Takebe, a close friend of the Vietnamese people and said she was impressed when Takebe always offers the nation sincere feelings and makes every effort to promote mutual co-operation fields.
Mai congratulated Tsutomu as head of the Organizing Committee of the Japanese side, together with the Festival Organizing Committee, successfully organized the eighth Vietnam - Japan Festival 2023. The first activity opened a broad array of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomacy, featuring the participation of many Vietnamese leaders as well as a large number of both nations’ people.
The extensive Vietnam - Japan strategic partnership is therefore in a strong and comprehensive development stage boasting high political trust, with the two countries launching a string of activities to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations, Mai said, affirming that Japan remains the country’s top important economic partner.
Both sides continue to boost labour ties, human resource training, local co-operation, whilst deepening cultural and people-to-people exchanges as a contribution to strengthening understanding and friendship between the two peoples.
The Vietnamese community living, studying, and working in Japan has reached nearly 500,000 people, thereby becoming the second largest expat community in Japan and making positive contributions to socio-economic development of the two countries.
Along with the strong development of relations between the two sides, the chairwoman of the Vietnam-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group said that the positive relationship between the two legislative bodies is constantly being strengthened.
The two sides regularly exchange delegations of parliamentary leaders, specialized agencies, and strive to create a friendship between the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Parliamentary Group and the Japan - Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance which continues to grow and flourish.
As part of this occasion, Mai conveyed her greetings and reiterated the invitation to the president of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance to visit Vietnam.
Discussing some issues with the special advisor of the JVFPA, Mai suggested Takebe pay attention to bolstering ties between the two countries’ localities across a variety of fields to bring benefits to both sides, such as investment, trade, tourism, and labour.
Mai also requested that Takebe prompt Japanese ministries and branches to continue working alongside relevant Vietnamese agencies to improve the mechanism of sending and receiving interns and continue to promote cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, especially on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of both nations’ diplomatic ties.
This is in addition to bolstering bilateral ties in training human resources between both sides, in which, Japanese enterprises and organizations continue to support Vietnam-Japan University to improve training quality.
During the course of the meeting, Tsutomu announced the organization of the eighth Vietnam - Japan Festival in 2023 and said that during his visit he is also expected to have a meeting with Quang Ninh provincial leaders on the organization of the Vietnam - Japan Festival by the end of this year.
Regarding the development of the Vietnam - Japan University, he said that in the near future the University will establish a Center for Human Resource Development, thereby making practical contributions to ties in training high-quality human resources whilst deepening mutual understanding between the two countries’ people.
The special advisor therefore affirmed that, in his position, he will ramp up efforts to promote the two countries' Friendship Parliamentary Groups to continue carrying out co-operation activities, thereby making the relationship between the two countries more practical and effective.
