Vietnam, Japan boost cooperation across the board

Mai, who is also the chairwoman of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians Group, welcomed the working visit by Izumi Kenta and his delegation taking place to mark the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the two nations’ diplomatic relations which began back in 1973, thanking Japan for its contributions to Vietnamese socio-economic development over many years.

She expressed her belief that the CPD will continue to develop and make positive contributions in a bid to improve the development and prosperity of Japan.

The official affirmed the importance of the country’s extensive strategic partnership with Japan, including inter-Party relations, adding that Vietnamese agencies are willing to consider issues which offer optimal conditions for Japanese investors.

She expressed great appreciation for the CPD always supporting and contributing to the relationship between Vietnam and Japan.

Mai therefore proposed that the CPD strive to strengthen relations between the two Parties, the two legislative bodies and increase people- to- people ties, while suggesting the Japanese Government continue to pay attention to supporting the Vietnamese side in human resource development. This is along with co-operating in the nation’s priotised areas and creating favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community to study and work in Japan.

Mai also discussed the Vietnamese foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, co-operation, and development, as well as the country's policy on upholding international law, consolidating peace, and peacefully resolving international disputes.

In response, Kenta showed his elation at his visit and congratulated the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) for leading its people to achieve many great things both domestically and internationally.

The CPD leader applauded the strong development of joint times over recent times, agreeing with Mai's opinions on co-operation between the two countries moving forward, whilst touching upon Japanese investors’ concerns, expressing a desire to strengthen comprehensive links in a multitude of areas.

He outlined his delight at the two Parties' re-signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on co-operation during this visit, going on to assure participants of his party’s readiness to work together to effectively implement the MoU with a view to developing the bilateral relations even stronger in the near future.

He said he believes that based on high political trust, the relationship between both sides will continue to develop comprehensively and substantially, adding that Japan is keen to welcome more Vietnamese people to study and work in the Far East Asian nation.

Host and guest also agreed to further reinforce the relationship between two Parties' youths.

The same day saw Le Hoai Trung, chairman of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for Foreign Affairs, hold a working session with the CPD delegation during which both sides had an in-depth discussion on orientations and measures aimed at boosting the two Parties’ relations and two countries in the coming time.

As part of the occasion, the two sides signed a MoU on promoting exchange and cooperation between the CPV and CDP.
