Vietnam, Italy bolster party cooperation

VOV.VN - National Assembly (NA) Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong met with leaders of Communist Parties during her official visit to Italy from May 26-29.
She also hailed the parties’ practical contributions to the Vietnam – Italy relationship and called for their continued support for bilateral ties.
The Vietnamese and Italian party officials mentioned challenges and opportunities for the communist movement in the world. They consented to step up cooperation and exchanges to share experience in developing the parties and people’s capacity.
The Italian parties’ representatives also expressed concern over the new and complex developments in sovereignty disputes in the East Sea. They said they support Vietnam ’s stance of peacefully settling disputes and respecting international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Ugo Moro, member of the Communist Party of Italy’s Politburo, said Vietnam’s achievements offer practical lessons for his party during its current reform.
NA Vice Chairwoman visited the Communist Party of Italy’s committee in the Veneto region based in the northern city of Mestre.
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong is an honorable member of this committee.
