VOV.VN - Vietnam welcomes the signing of the Joint Statement between Cambodia and Thailand at the 3rd Special Meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) on December 27, 2025, which agreed on a ceasefire and measures to de-escalate tensions along the border between the two countries.
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Pham Thu Hang made the remarks in response to a reporter’s question on Vietnam’s reaction to the Joint Statement adopted at the 3rd Special Meeting of the General Border Committee between Cambodia and Thailand.
Vietnam believes the two sides will effectively implement the commitments set out in the Joint Statement and continue negotiations to peacefully settle disputes on the basis of fundamental principles of international law, the United Nations Charter, the ASEAN Charter, the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), and in the spirit of ASEAN friendship and solidarity, for the long-term interests of both countries and the region, she said.
Vietnam will continue to closely follow developments, remain ready to engage in dialogue with both countries, and take part in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)’s joint efforts to deal with disagreements between Cambodia and Thailand, including strengthening the effectiveness of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT), the official added.
