Vietnam greatly values ties with Japan

These comments came as Mai led a CPV delegation on a working visit to Japan from September 9 to September 12, during which she outlined how the country is keen to work alongside the Japan to further deepen bilateral relations.

During the visit, the delegation held a broad range of exchange activities with Japanese officials, including a host of meetings with Hidehisa Otsuji, President of the House of Councilors, Toshihiro Nikai, president of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance, Tsutomu Takebe, special advisor of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance. They also visited Hokkaido where over 10,000 Vietnamese people are living and working and attended a Vietnamese festival in Sapporo, capital of Hokkaido Prefecture, to meet with Governor of Hokkaido Naomichi Suzuki and representatives of the Hokkaido-Vietnam Friendship Association.

During the course of the meetings, Mai conveyed greetings from Party, State, and NA leaders, expressing her pleasure at visiting Japan amid both nations looking forward to the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2023. This will be a particularly notable event, particularly following Vietnamese achievements in COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control coupled with the nation’s recent socio-economic recovery and development.

Mai affirmed the unwavering Vietnamese policy of placing great importance on relations with Japan, with a strong desire to join Japan in further deepening the relationship between the two countries. This should be done for the common interests of the two peoples as a means of contributing to peace, stability, co-operation, and development in the region and throughout the world.

She used to event to ask asked Otsuji and other Japanese leaders to support the two sides' efforts to strengthen political ties and boost relations between the two parliaments, as well as paying close attention to bolstering ties between the two countries’ localities.

The two sides therefore agreed to strengthen economic, trade, and investment co-operation, human resource training, labour co-operation, hi-tech agriculture, health care, as well as creating favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, study, and work in Japan.

Japanese partners expressed their great appreciation for the significance of Mai's visit to Japan, while highlighting Vietnam as a key partner for Japan.

They used the occasion to agree on measures to foster bilateral relations mentioned by the Vietnamese delegation. Otsuji went on to affirm that the two countries' relations have developed strongly, believing in the great potential that exists for the extensive strategic partnership between both sides.

The Japanese side has launched a broad array of co-operation initiatives such as supporting the country in developing in the fields of agriculture and health, promoting mutual diplomacy. They also affirmed the importance of linkages in human resource training, youth exchanges, young leaders, local co-operation, and people-to-people exchanges.

Japanese leaders stated that they would conduct a visit to Vietnam in order to further boost co-operation with Vietnam in the near future, especially to mark the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2023.

Mai and her delegation also visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan where they learned about the lives of officials of representative agencies, as well as the Vietnamese community residing in Japan.
