Vietnam greatly values ties with China

VOV.VN - Vietnam places great importance on its friendly neighbourliness and comprehensive strategic co-operative partnership with China, viewing it as a top priority in the country’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, and diversification.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang made the statement on October 16 while receiving Deputy Mayor of China's Chongqing city Zhang Guozhi in Hanoi.

She hailed the Chinese city’s contributions to nurturing the fraternal friendship that exists between the two nations, including its efforts to preserve President Ho Chi Minh’s relic sites during his stay there for revolutionary activities.

The Deputy Minister therefore congratulated Chongqing on its socio-economic achievements over recent time, suggesting that the city share its experience with Vietnamese localities in socio-economic development, especially in the fields of manufacturing and urban management.

Urging both sides to work together to ramp up economic-trade ties, Deputy Minister Hang expressed her hope that Chongqing will purchase more high-quality agro-fishery products from the Vietnamese market and join hands with competent sides to effectively operate the China – EU freight train route to facilitate Vietnamese exports to third nations.

She requested that Chongqing co-ordinate with relevant authorities in a bid to accelerate the opening of the Vietnamese Consulate General in the city, while agreeing with her Chinese guest to enhance collaboration in cultural and people-to-people exchanges and tourism.

The Vietnamese diplomat also suggested that Chongqing offer favourable conditions aimed at opening additional flights to Vietnamese localities.

Introducing Chongqing’s socio-economic development, Zhang Guozhi proposed several initiatives aimed at boosting linkages between Chongqing and Vietnamese localities in the time ahead, including the maintaining of delegation exchanges at all levels.

She asked for Vietnamese support for Chongqing enterprises in investment activities in the country, whilst welcoming Vietnam to the Western China International Fair and many other international trade fairs due to take place in the Chinese city.

She said she wishes both sides will move to intensify people-to-people exchanges, as well as education and tourism co-operation.
