Vietnam, Germany strengthen cybercrime cooperation

(VOV) - Minister Tran Dai Quang is leading a Ministry of Public Security (MoPS) delegation on a working visit to Germany, seeking to enhance law enforcement cooperation between the two countries.

Coordinator for the German Intelligence Agency Gunter Heiss on July 3 welcomed the Vietnamese delegation, saying that he hopes the visit will help deepen the bilateral cooperative ties of friendship and elevate the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Germany wants to expand cooperation with Vietnam in law enforcement, particularly in combating cybercrime, Heiss said, adding that he believes this strength of Germany can benefit the Southeast Asian nation.

During the talks, the two sides evaluated regional and international issues of mutual concern, agreeing to the exchange of information, experience, visits and training to implement a coordinated network for combating transnational cybercrime and terrorism.

On the occasion, Quang updated the host on recent events surrounding China’s illegal deployment of Haiyang Shiyou-981 rig deep inside Vietnam’s Exclusive Economic Zone and continental shelf and initiatives of the Vietnam government to bring about a peaceful resolution to the dispute.

He thanked the German Government and people for their continued support of Vietnam’s stance on the East Sea issue and urged Germany to raise a stronger voice for justice for the Vietnamese people and ask China to end it.

Gunter expressed his steadfast support for Vietnam’s stance of settling the current crisis by peaceful solutions in accordance with international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Earlier, the Vietnamese delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Vietnam Embassy in Germany.

Ambassador Nguyen Thi Hoang Anh briefed the delegation on major activities of the embassy and Overseas Vietnamese residing in the country to promote positive development of bilateral relations with Germany and other European nations.
