Vietnam fosters cooperation with Russian political parties
Nguyen Thi Hoang Van, deputy head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations, on December 1 and 2 held meetings with leaders of the United Russia Party (URP), the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF) and the A Just Russia – For the Truth party.
During the meetings, which took place in the framework of the official visit to Russia by President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Van said the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) always attaches importance to cooperation with Russia’s political parties, and collaboration via the Party channel, thus contributing to strengthening the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership in an effective and pragmatic manner.
She handed over a message of congratulation from Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to URP leaders on the occasion of the party's 20th anniversary.
Deputy Secretary of the URP's General Council Andrey Klimov affirmed that Vietnam is a leading important partner in Russia’s foreign policy in Southeast Asia and Asia-Pacific.
The URP will actively coordinate with Vietnam in the implementation of specific cooperation activities to realise the minutes on expanding and deepening cooperation between the CPV and the URP for 2022-2024.
Leaders of the KPRF and the A Just Russia – For the Truth also emphasised their support of stronger relations with Vietnam, and agreed to step up information sharing as well as the exchange of all-level delegations, and closely coordinate with the Vietnamese side at multilateral forums.
The parties appreciated President Phuc’s visit, describing it as a milestone that marks a new development period in the bilateral ties between Russia and Vietnam. They pledged to work with Vietnam to promote cooperation through the Party channel, thereby creating a firm political foundation for and contributing to consolidating and deepening the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership.
