During the visit to Mexico from July 27 to August 1, Mai held a meeting with Alberto Anaya Gutiérrez, General Secretary of the Labour Party (PT) of Mexico. She attended and delivered remarks at a plenary session of the PT Central Committee, received Congressman Pedro Vazquez, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, and held working sessions with Congresswoman Ana Karina Rojo Pimentel, Chairwoman of the Chamber’s Committee on Social Welfare and President of the Mexico–Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group.

At the meetings, the Vietnamese official emphasised that the purpose of her visit was to promote friendship and cooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the PT, as well as with other political parties in Mexico, thus contributing to strengthening and deepening the traditional friendship between the two countries, particularly in the context that they are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1975–2025).

Mai conveyed an invitation from the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam to Alberto Anaya Gutiérrez and other PT leaders to attend the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2, 1945 – 2025).

She affirmed that the Party, State, and people of Vietnam value and remember the support and assistance of the people of Latin American countries, including Mexico, during Vietnam’s struggle for national independence and reunification.

She emphasised that bilateral relations have continuously developed based on political trust, friendship, sincere cooperation, and mutual respect, and have been steadily expanding and producing tangible outcomes across multiple sectors.

For his part, PT General Secretary Alberto Anaya Gutiérrez expressed admiration for the Vietnamese people's struggle for national liberation, as well as for the country’s remarkable achievements in socio-economic development.

He affirmed that Vietnam’s success today is largely due to the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, which has effectively applied the vision and ideology of late President Ho Chi Minh.

He highlighted Vietnam’s positive economic results since Doi Moi (Renewal), as its rapid and stable growth in recent years has transformed Vietnam from an agricultural country into an emerging hub for high-tech industrial production in the region.

Addressing a session of the PT Central Committee, Mai affirmed that the cooperation between the two parties stands as one of the exemplary models of collaboration between the Communist Party of Vietnam and political parties in Latin America.

At the meetings with Congressman Pedro Vazquez and Congresswoman Ana Karina Rojo Pimentel, Mai appreciated the establishment of the Mexico-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group, affirming that strengthening parliamentary diplomacy between Vietnam and Mexico will help lay a legal foundation to promote and actively support the establishment of a comprehensive partnership, while also creating an effective dialogue channel to serve common goals.

During the visit to Venezuela from July 23-27, the Vietnamese delegation held meetings with Rander Peña, Vice President for Foreign Affairs of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV); Eduardo Piñera, Vice President of the PSUV and head of the PSUV Central Committee’s Commission for Ideology and Training; Saul Ortega, Chairman of the Venezuela–Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group; and Tatiana Pugh, Venezuela’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. The delegation also attended the opening ceremony of the People’s Summit for Peace and Against War.

As part of the trip, the Vietnamese delegation laid flowers at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Caracas, and paid tribute to war martyrs at the Vietnamese Embassy on the occasion of Vietnam’s 78th War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27).

CPV strengthens ties with Latin American left-wing parties
