Vietnam, DPRK boost defence links
VOV.VN - Deputy Minister of National Defence Lieut. Sen. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien hosted a reception on August 17 in Hanoi for Colonel Kim Myong Chol, defence attaché of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) in Vietnam.
During the meeting, Deputy Minister Chien affirmed the Vietnamese Party, Government, and Ministry of National Defence’s recognition of great importance to the traditional friendship between both sides. He outlined that the comprehensive ties between the two Parties and countries is a premise and foundation for the two sides to practically expand bilateral defence co-operation.
He hailed the fruitful development of defence links between the two nations over recent times, noting that despite impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, it has maintained a positive development momentum and always promoted its pivotal role in mutual relations.
Deputy Minister Chien applauded the efforts made by the DPRK officer in promoting the co-operation between the two countries' armies over recent times, expressing confidence that Colonel Kim will continue to make remarkable contributions to strengthening ties between the two countries and militaries.
The two sides should therefore focus their co-operation on multiple fields, including intensifying delegation exchange at all levels, effectively carrying out signed agreements, and sharing experience in Party and political affairs. This is along with expanding collaboration in training, art, culture, and military sports, in addition to exchanges among young officers, military medicine, and exchanging new contents suitable to meet the demands of each side.
In response, Colonel Kim thanked the Ministry of National Defence of Vietnam for its attention and support for developing defence co-operation between the two countries.
He assured that in his position and responsibilities, he will exert efforts aimed at promoting and implementing co-operation contents agreed by the two sides as a contribution to fostering mutual defence links.
