Vietnam, Bulgaria work towards substantive and effective cooperation
VOV.VN - The time-honored and close-knit relationship between Vietnam and Bulgaria, built on 75 years of strong ties, continues to grow and flourish based on substantive and effective cooperation, with a view toward a strategic partnership.

The affirmation was made at a ceremony held in Ho Chi Minh City on March 3 to mark Bulgaria’s 147th National Day and the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Bulgaria.
Hoang Thai Lan, chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam-Bulgaria Friendship Association, highlighted the robust and positive development of bilateral ties across multiple fields, including diplomacy, education, trade, and investment. Economic cooperation between the two nations has seen encouraging progress, with bilateral trade turnover seeing steady growth.
As of late 2024, Bulgaria had 14 direct investment projects in Vietnam, with a total capital of US$31.32 million, ranking 69th out of 145 countries and territories investing in the Southeast Asian nation.

During the ceremony, Oleg Marinov, a representative of the Bulgarian Embassy in Vietnam, read a congratulatory letter from Bulgarian Ambassador Pavlin Todorov. The letter emphasized that over the past 75 years, Bulgaria and Vietnam have built a deep and enduring friendship rooted in mutual respect, shared values, and common goals.
Having established diplomatic ties with Vietnam on February 8, 1950, during a challenging period, Bulgaria made great contributions to Vietnam’s development across a variety of areas, offering both material and human resources to support the country’s recovery and reconstruction.
Thousands of Vietnamese citizens who studied and worked in Bulgaria have gained valuable knowledge and experience while fostering a deep affection for the country. The letter stated, "The 75th anniversary of our diplomatic ties is an opportunity to honor past achievements and outline new prospects for our future relationship."
"Bulgaria and Vietnam share a clear roadmap for friendship and cooperation. Recently, we have witnessed a renewed and stronger momentum in high-level political dialogue. Both sides reaffirm their commitment to further enhancing substantive and effective cooperation in a multitude areas of mutual interest. We deeply appreciate the associations and Vietnamese communities who have studied, lived, and worked in Bulgaria, as they have proven to be an invaluable asset to our relationship," the letter read.
