Vietnam attends G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Japan
A Vietnamese delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, is attending the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Nagoya city in Aichi prefecture of Japan.

The meeting’s three plenary sessions focused on the promotion of free trade and global governance, implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Africa's development.
Based on the outcomes of the Osaka Summit, the ministers are discussing issues such as further facilitating trade and investment, addressing new challenges arising from digitalization while maximizing its benefits and minimizing its side-effects, and improving functions of the existing multilateral frameworks, including the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
At the G20 Osaka Summit in June, the leaders affirmed the necessity of maintaining the multilateral free trading system and the reform of the WTO since international trade and investment remain the key engine of economic growth.
Regarding Africa’s development, the ministers are scheduled to discuss issues such as ensuring sustainable economic growth of Africa, assisting African-led progress on peace and security, and addressing the root causes of the outstanding challenges in Africa.
The G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Nagoya will be the last of the relevant ministerial meetings under Japan’s presidency. The presidency will be handed over to Saudi Arabia after the meeting.
