Vietnam attaches importance to relations with Russia

VOV.VN - Vietnam always places importance on developing a comprehensive strategic partnership with the Russian Federation in a multitude of areas, including defence cooperation.

The statement was made by spokeswoman for the Foreign Ministry Pham Thu Hang at a regular press conference of the ministry on August 17 in Hanoi in response to a reporter's question regarding the speech by Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu on defence links between the two nations.

The defence cooperation between the two sides has been maintained and developed in accordance with cooperation documents and agreements, especially the Joint Vision Statement on defence cooperation for the 2020-2022 period and other cooperation mechanisms which have been established in the past time as a contribution to peace, stability, security, safety, cooperation and development in the region as well as in the world.

Earlier on August 15, Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang  held talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu within the framework of  the 11th Moscow Conference on International Security (MCIS-11) and the International Military-Technical Forum 2023 (Army 2023) held in Moscow.
