Vietnam appoints Honorary Consul in Indian state

VOV.VN - Vietnamese Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Hai has presented the decision to appoint Velagapudi Kavitha Dutt, joint managing director of Kcp Ltd, as the Honorary Consul of Vietnam to Tamil Nadu state.

As part of his speech at a recent ceremony, the Vietnamese diplomat said the honorary consul will play an important role in economic, tourism, culture co-operation, and people-to-people exchanges between the two nations, with a specific focus on Tamil Nadu in particular. As a result, the move will prove to be effective in implementing Vietnamese citizen protection efforts in the Indian state.

He went on to express his belief that Dutt will fully well fulfill her duties, thereby contribute to strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership that exists between the two countries.

In response, Dutt expressed her honour and pride at being appointed as an honorary consul to represent the nation in Tamil Nadu, which is one of the most developed states throughout all of India.

She therefore pledged her best efforts to support the Vietnamese community in the state as a means of contributing to strengthening Vietnamese tourism, culture, and people, whilst simultaneously continuing to explore the potential between Tamil Nadu and Vietnamese localities, especially economic links.

KCP Ltd has 80 years of experience in producing cement, sugar, heavy industrial machinery, and both sophisticated and hi-tech equipment for projects in clean energy, defence, space, and nuclear power.

The firm has also invested US$103 million in the Vietnamese market, especially in the central province of Phu Yen, mainly in sugar refining and power generation.
