Vietnam affirms unwavering stance on Chinese fishing ban in East Sea

VOV.VN - Vietnam's stance on China's fishing ban in the East Sea remains consistent and has been clearly asserted over the past years.

This affirmation was made by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang at a routine press briefing held on April 25 in Hanoi in reply to a reporters' query about the country’s reaction regarding Chinese fishing ban in the East Sea.

The Chinese fishing ban not only violates Vietnamese sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracels), but also the nation’s sovereign rights and jurisdiction over its exclusive economic zone determined under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 (UNCLOS).

Vietnam therefore requests that China respects its sovereignty over Hoang Sa and its sovereignty, sovereign rights, and jurisdiction over Vietnamese maritime zones without further complicating the situation as a contribution to maintaining peace, stability, and order in the East Sea.
