Venezuelan friends confident in Vietnam’s new National Assembly term
VOV.VN - Dr. Carolus Wimmer, President of the Venezuela-Vietnam Friendship Association, extended congratulations to the Party, State and people of Vietnam as the country prepares for elections to the National Assembly and People’s Councils for the 2026-2031 term on March 15.
During a visit to the Embassy of Vietnam in Venezuela in the capital Caracas, Wimmer said the serious, responsible and transparent preparations for the election once again reflected the strength of Vietnam’s great national unity and the solid foundation of its political system.
He also praised the achievements of Vietnam’s National Assembly during the past term, particularly in improving the legal system, promoting socio-economic development and enhancing the role of the legislature in the country’s political life.
Wimmer expressed confidence that with broad public consensus and Vietnam’s strong tradition of national unity, the upcoming election would usher in a dynamic and effective new term of the National Assembly, building on past achievements and helping Vietnam continue its steady path of development and international integration.
During the meeting at the embassy, a delegation from the Venezuela-Vietnam Friendship Association led by Wimmer also exchanged views with Ambassador Vu Trung My on measures to strengthen people-to-people exchanges and promote the traditional friendship between the two countries.
In his speech, Wimmer said the Venezuelan people hold deep affection and admiration for Vietnam, viewing the country as a symbol of resilience in the struggle for national independence as well as success in national development.
He said the Venezuela-Vietnam Friendship Association would continue to coordinate closely with the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela to organise practical activities aimed at strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of the two countries.
For his part, Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Vu Trung My welcomed the active role played by the Venezuela-Vietnam Friendship Association in recent years, particularly through cultural and academic exchanges and programmes introducing Vietnam’s history and culture to Venezuelan audiences.
According to the ambassador, these activities have helped strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of the two countries while promoting the image of Vietnam and its people in Venezuela.
Both sides affirmed that the friendship between Vietnam and Venezuela is rooted in a shared history of solidarity in the struggle for national independence, peace and justice.
In recent years, the Venezuela-Vietnam Friendship Association has worked closely with the embassy to launch numerous activities such as seminars on Vietnamese history, cultural exhibitions, commemorations of President Ho Chi Minh and events marking diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The two sides also discussed cooperation priorities for 2026, including activities marking major Vietnamese national celebrations, academic seminars on Vietnam-Venezuela relations and cultural exchanges introducing Vietnamese culture to the Venezuelan public.
The embassy and the Venezuela-Vietnam Friendship Association also agreed to promote youth and student exchanges as well as educational activities on Vietnamese history and culture, helping strengthen connections between younger generations and build a sustainable foundation for Vietnam-Venezuela friendship in the future.
The meeting took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, showing the shared determination of the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela and the Venezuela-Vietnam Friendship Association to further promote people-to-people exchanges and deepen the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
