US regarded among leading Vietnamese partners
VOV.VN - Vietnam always considers the United States to be among its most important partners, in which economic co-operation is a pillar, Minister of Public Security Gen. To Lam said during a recent working session with a high-level business delegation of the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) led by Ted Osius, president and CEO, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.
During the course of the meeting, Minister To Lam thanked the USABC and US businesses for their substantive and effective contributions to promoting trade and investment ties between the two countries, thereby helping to further boost the development of joint relations.
Moving forward, as a means of maximising the potential of co-operation between the two countries, Minister To Lam has suggested that the US-ASEAN Business Council and the US business community continue to serve as an important bridge between the Governments and business communities of the two countries in order to strengthen the comprehensive partnership and increasing US investment in the Vietnamese market, especially in the process of shifting supply chains across sectors and projects which are vital to both nations, including energy, infrastructure development, and finance and banking.
It can be seen as imperative for both sides to contribute to promoting and realising co-operation commitments and initiatives between ASEAN and the US in the fields of economy - trade, maritime security, and aviation.
Regarding the plan to develop flight infrastructure and training facilities for the People's Public Security Air Regiment, Minister To Lam proposed the USABC delegation consider and take full advantage of the forms of support on offer from the US Government's fund as a means of reducing the cost of products, services, and technologies.
This should be done alongside devising a specific plan in case the two parties negotiate and sign a contract on the transfer of technology, products, and services, including the training of personnel capable of operating, repairing, and maintaining equipment, the Minister went on.
For his part, Osius hailed the great achievements made in bilateral ties, especially in the field of economy - trade - investment, particularly through the stronger presence of many major US enterprises and groups operating in the Vietnamese market.
The USABC will continue to promote its role as a bridge between the Governments and business communities of the two countries moving forward, as well as proposing practical and effective initiatives aimed at boosting Vietnam-US economic-trade-investment ties, he added.
