Unveiling of President Ho Chi Minh’s monument marks National Day

VOV.VN - The Party Committee and Command of the Military Region 7 held an inaugural ceremony of the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial on September 2 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The event was attended by Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member and chairman of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Information and Education; Nguyen Van Nen, secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; and Deputy Minister of National Defence Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong.

In his speech at the inauguration ceremony, Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang, Commander of Military Region 7, said, “This is a cultural project of profound political, historical and humanistic significance, expressing the infinite respect and gratitude of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, the Military Region Command, officers and soldiers of the Military Region 7's armed forces for beloved President Ho Chi Minh. Simultaneously, it is a very meaningful place for the Party Committee and the Military Region Command to organise important events and offer incense in memory of Uncle Ho.”

“Through that, we educate the tradition and patriotism towards the Party and beloved Uncle Ho for all officers and soldiers of the Military Region's armed forces, thus contributing to promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style, and building a clean and strong Party Committee of Military Region 7,” he added.

Lt. Gen. Thang affirmed, "The officers and soldiers of the armed forces of Military Region 7 vow to remember Uncle Ho's teachings, actively strive to study and follow his ideology, morality and style, and constantly strive to gain even greater feats and achievements, worthy of the trust of the Party, State and people."

This is also one of the practical activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, the 35th anniversary of All-People National Defence Day, and the 80th anniversary of Military Region 7's Traditional Day.

The Ho Chi Minh Monument was built at the Military Region 7 Command Headquarters to span a total area of ​​2,150 square metres. The statue of Uncle Ho is cast in pure red copper, stands at 7.9 metres high, weighs nearly 15 tonnes, with the total height of the statue and pedestal being 12.5 metres.
