UN Deputy Secretary-General hails Vietnam's positive contributions to UN

VOV.VN - Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, permanent representative of Vietnam to the UN had a recent working session with Catherine Pollard, UN Under-Secretary-General for Strategy, Policy and Compliance.

During the course of the meeting, the UN official highly appreciated the nation’s positive contributions in many aspects to the common work undertaken by the UN, including contributions of Vietnamese individuals currently working for various UN agencies.

Pollard went on to affirm her willingness to work closely alongside the country and other member states to promote more effective operations of the UN, multilateralism, and the representativeness of member countries.

Emphasising Vietnamese commitments to actively contributing to the work of the global organisation, Ambassador Giang shared Vietnamese efforts over the years, especially in sending military and police forces to participate in the UN peacekeeping force. This is along with making financial contributions to peacekeeping operations, as well as other UN activities.

In line with this, the nation attaches great importance to reinforcing ties with the UN and desires to make more active contributions through strengthening Vietnamese representation in UN agencies.

The UN Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC) is a division of the UN Secretariat and is primarily responsible for promoting intergovernmental and inter-agency relations, internal administration, and governance issues such as management, planning, finance, budgeting, human resources, business transformation, information, and communication technology.
